JUMA was commissioned to transform an old ruin into a holiday home full of character in Ibiza. The south side of the plot has a beautiful view of the hills and therefore almost all rooms were oriented towards it.
In response to contextual data and the existing dilapidated 'finca', JUMA positioned the new residential volumes, in terms of colour tone to tone but rougher in texture, against the existing main volume. A clear hierarchy between new and existing volumes was introduced by using different heights in the volume play.
The whole was designed according to the spirit of the typical ibizian villa, while preserving all the authentic elements.
The central "porxo" or entrance hall, which connects all the rooms via differences in level, ensures cohesion in the ground plan. The arches, which are also characteristic of the local architecture, have been partially preserved and in some places new ones have even been created.
The terraces follow the natural slope of the site and form playful surfaces that eventually give way to the green-blue infinity pool. These terraces each create a separate place and are always south-facing in order to enjoy the views and the beautiful landscape to the full. Sliding windows that slip into the thickened walls blur the boundary between the interior and exterior, so that functional spaces such as the kitchen also become part of the terraces.
